Outside, it's cold in LA
So, I'm driving down Ventura, right? And it's getting late, I mean, not even six o'clock, but it's started to get dark. And the sky's, like, that cool in-between color: not a sunset or anything yet, but it's that blue that's getting darkened and it's all splashed around like watercolor and maybe there's a star but either way you can see the moon so brightly, it's always just set up there really obviously, but when you're driving down Ventura it's even more obvious, or when you walk out of my apartment building. And there are these palm trees—super tall, like, the tallest ones there are—lining either side of the boulevard, reaching up toward the moon, and sort of framing it, in an off, uncentered way, and maybe Tom Petty's playing on the radio and maybe he's not but that's kind of, you know, that's when I know that I'm home.
